Shipping Clerk

General Responsibilities:

To prepare all paperwork, labels and documents for shipping department.
To process transactions as required.
To assist Shipping Supervisor as required.
 
Specific Duties:
 
1. Consistently carry out the policies of the Company.
2. Understands and practices all directives of the Duraco Safety and Health Management Program.
3. Appropriately document knowledge of and/or participation in all systems, procedures, projects, investigations, rules of thumb, preventive measures, AQP, EQD’s, IQD’s and SQD’s.  Reference item documented to concerned parties via email and/or weekly minutes.
4. Maintain communication links with all departments and company personnel in a professional and respectful manner.
5. Participate in and/or respond to AQP (Advanced Quality Planning) team investigations, JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) and EH&S (Environment, Health and Safety) inspections.
6. Practice continuous improvement strategies while continually monitoring shipping activities in order to maintain on time delivery.
7. Perform cycle count of finished goods.
8. Batching orders so the warehouse personnel can pick orders efficiently.
9. Create bar code labels / customer address labels as required by the customer.
10. Addressing customer service issues relating to shipping
11. Prepare certificates of compliance and origin as required by customer.
12. Perform proof of deliveries as requested by Customer Service and Finance Departments

18. Practice continuous improvement strategies while continually monitoring shipping activities in order to increase productivity and product quality while reducing late shipments.
19. Communicate in English with Management and co-workers regarding job requirements and procedures.
20. Utilize the computer for information gathering, label making and data collection.
21. Monitor equipment for unsafe conditions and notify Management of any problems. 
22. Keep the department clean with aisles open and fire extinguishers accessible.

24. Practice and maintain a 12 Foot Safety Circle.
25. Daily: Maintain a neat and orderly work station.
26. Daily: Perform end of shift/job cleanup of work station. (5 minutes allotted to perform cleanup)
27. Participate in the Weekly Departmental EHS Inspection
28. Participate in STEP Program.
29. Place all trash in proper collection bins.
30. Place all recycling in proper collection bins.
31. Conduct all work activity to ISO 9000 standards and procedures.
32. To carry out responsibilities in accordance with ISO 14001 standards.
33. To carry out responsibilities in accordance with OHSAS 18001 standards.
34. Provide ideas for the elimination of waste, continuous improvement and defect prevention.
35. Any other duties as assigned.
 
 
Knowledge/Skills Required:
 
1. Understand thoroughly the shipping processes.
2. Proficient computer skills, including keyboard skills.
3. Read & understand the Duraco Employee Handbook.
4. Understand the procedures outlined in the Duraco Quality System.
5. Read, understand and apply all related SOP’s that support the position.
6. Be physically capable of handling materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
7. While working be able to stand, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, stoop, crouch, reach, handle, finger, feel, talk and hear. In addition, visual clarity near, far, peripherally and identifying color are necessary.
8. Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) along with the use of a calculator.
9. Complete understanding and use of the ruler and other measuring devices.
10. Read, speak, write and understand the English language.
11. At a minimum, complete and understand the following training courses:
 
Initial Duraco training
Bloodborne Pathogens
Fire evacuation / Fire prevention plan
Lockout / Tag Out
Hazcom
ISO 9000 training
ISO 14001 training
OHSAS 18001 training
 
Authority:
 
1. Reports directly to the Department Supervisor.
