Maintenance Technician

Job Function
Responsible for all aspects of machine repairs, machine preventive maintenance, building maintenance including general plumbing and electrical repairs. Will be expected to perform a wide variety of maintenance and repair work on production machinery. Good judgment, problem-solving, troubleshooting and initiatives are required in making decisions in accordance with established business goals.

 

  • On-call services may be required for emergencies and/or lockouts during nights or weekends.
  • Provide accurate record keeping of work completed and all required reporting systems.
  • Repair and maintain equipment and machinery
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines; replaces or repairs machine belts; removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste materials from machines; paints machines or equipment to prevent corrosion.
  • Ensure all aspects of day-to-day site maintenance are reliable, efficient and meet safety and compliance requirements 
  • Provide day to day support to operations by resolving machine and support equipment issues quickly and efficiently
  • Develop a system ensuring projects, tasks and PM’s are executed on time and quickly to ensure uptime of all equipment is maintained
  • Provide recommendations and justification for equipment updates and replacements
  • Maintain 5S standards for all areas of responsibilities
  • Lead safety initiatives ensuring equipment and facility are safe for everyone
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for chemical storage and handles as well as Waste water and safety
  • Manage daily boiler maintenance requirements and log; obtain and hold current boiler license
  •  Manages overall administrative activities for Maintenance and Maintenance purchasing
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repair of facilities infrastructure
  • Participate in all maintenance projects, snow removal, trash removal and grounds work as needed
  • Participate in all aspects of cleaning and safety responsibilities for the facilities
  • Schedule maintenance and repairs for new and existing equipment
  • Renews existing contracts and maintain vendor and contractor relationships
  • Manage and procure vendors of materials, equipment or supplies
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Anticipate challenges and obstacles and proactively recommend solutions
  • Meet critical deadlines in a fast pace manufacturing environment
  • Manage hazardous waste program
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, equipment repair background required
  • Strong troubleshooting background, issue resolution and electro-mechanical aptitude
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • General computer skills required (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, able to prioritize tasks, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and a self-starter


Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment: Temperature may/will exceed 90+ degrees
  • Coating factory environment: nuisance odors
  • Varying noise levels
  • Fast-paced work
  • Powered industrial truck traffic


Physical Demands

  • Standing: Frequent, long periods
  • Walking: Frequent
  • Manually select a wide variety of products for packing, packaging and shipment
  • Be able to lift 35lbs.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with a high focus on safety and customer service
  • Close interaction and work within a team environment
  • Power equipment operation (forklift, pallet truck)
