Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager is a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle HR support across multiple manufacturing plants. The HRM is an innovative leader who leverages and improves HR processes to drive excellence and capability to deliver value for the business leaders and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for HR functions including recruiting, benefits, HRIS, payroll, employee relations, employment law, performance management, culture, employee engagement, and training.
  • Develop, coach, and provide guidance to HR Generalist. Manage employee benefit programs and plan designs. Maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Responsible for executing talent acquisition strategy and managing recruitment process for multiple sites.  
  • Develop forward-thinking strategies around HR system enhancements, implementations, integrations, process improvement and user experience.
  • Proactively coach leaders on organizational effectiveness, performance management, engagement and development topics including progressive discipline, reward and recognition, training, and workforce diversity.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements at federal, state, and local levels. Develop, implement, and manage company policies and procedures, reducing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provide training and development opportunities, partnering with management to create customized solutions for their teams. Responsible for developing and managing performance management process. 
  • Oversee the payroll process; serve as backup to HR Generalist.
  • Communicate, facilitate, and champion HR programs and company-wide initiatives such as corporate communication, employee engagement and recognition programs; provide support for various HR activities.
  • Resolve employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase employee engagement.
  • Foster and promote a work environment that embraces and values diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

Qualifications: Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • HR Certification: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • Seven or more years of progressive HR generalist experience with previous HR management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of employee benefits, including applicable laws and regulatory compliance
  • Previous experience in HRIS implementation with strong technical skills
  • Experienced with restructure, change management, M&A, private equity
  • A collaborative, confident and assertive style; ability to build strong trusting relationships and employ influencing strategies to gain support and achieve results and common goals
  • Excellent consulting and conflict management skills. Ability to prepare for and participate in difficult conversations. Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment to manage sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills. Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, re-prioritize based on business demands coupled with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Exhibit confidence and not be afraid to ask questions to bring clarity, share ideas and challenge the norm (think outside the box).
  • Proactive, self-directed, and motivated; not afraid to "roll up your sleeves."
  • Strong internal and external customer service focus and a passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement.
  • Impeccable follow-through and attention to detail. Timely and accurate execution of administrative HR responsibilities and compliance activities.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills including excellent facilitation skills and the ability to create executive level communications and presentations.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment a plus.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to travel or other US locations.
  • Required to support and visit sites in Forest Park, IL, Bolingbrook, IL and Lawrence, MA.
  • 25% Domestic Travel
